Job Objective: This position is responsible for the safe and efficient baling of textiles; completing the jobs required in the manner which the customer demands; carry out the Marion Goodwill Industries, Inc. mission statement.
Essential Job Functions
Completes the functions of the job assigned, such as ensuring only appropriate items go in to the baler, making sure the baler is filled to the appropriate level and ensuring the correct procedures for cardboard placement and wiring are being followed.
Ensures appropriate housekeeping is completed, including assigned cleaning duties at the end of shift and proper organization of cardboard and skids.
Provides support to the sorting area by providing empty boxes as assigned/available.
Works in a safe, efficient manner at all times, inspects work for accuracy and quality.
Ensures compliance with all safety practices and regulations, report all accident/incidents and unsafe conditions, completes proper reports and gives them to the Operations Director.
Maintains safety regulations on all machines used for bale work, inspecting work for accuracy and quality and working in a safe, efficient manner, using all personal protection equipment, when assigned to do so.
Works with supervisor in solving problems while remaining flexible in adjusting to changes in operation and scheduling requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Maintains confidentiality; ensures correct information goes only to the appropriate person(s).
Attends trainings/meetings as scheduled.
Follows all safety policies and procedures.
Appropriately dressed in accordance with the employee dress code.
Maintains a positive, team-oriented relationship with peers and Supervisors.
Critical Skills
Academic preparation preferably at high school level or GED; desire to work with rehabilitation consumers, other employees, and the public; team oriented; be able to stand for long periods of time, stoop, squat, bend and twist; lift up to 70 lbs. in a safe manner or obtain a safe method of doing so, appropriate grooming and dressing.

Equipment: Various equipment, not limited to a bag sealer, grinders, staple machine, clothing bailer, and hot melt machine.
