Mark
Coming to Goodwill through the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Mark entered the Workforce Development program. Mark was given a two-week assessment at Goodwill’s Marion East Store, where he demonstrated he could develop the work skills necessary for the job. He was hired by Manager Scott Wilson at the end of the assessment.
That was nearly five months ago. Since that time, Mark has been holding his own working part time in janitorial services. Scott praises the development of Mark’s work skills and indicates he is doing his job well.
Scott also enjoys watching Mark emerge from the shy young man who first came in the door to the much more confident individual he sees today. The self worth and self respect his job provides him is reflected in the smile Mark brings to work everyday and in the newfound ease in which he chats with the other employees in the Goodwill East family.
Mark fulfilled one of his first goals with an early paycheck by purchasing a Playstation. He also recently moved into an apartment with a friend. One of Mark’s next goals is to obtain a driver’s license and then rebuild an old car … preferably a sky blue one.
An Ohio State fan, Mark enjoys watching both the football and basketball Buckeyes.
