Jess
In his last year at Gilead Christian School, Jess spent his summer break as part of the summer youth program at Morrow County Job & Family Services, with job coaching services provided by Goodwill. The program placed him at All Occasions Catering in Waldo where he did a wide variety of general janitorial jobs. These included everything from mopping floors and steam cleaning chairs to pulling weeds. And while Jess enjoyed working at All Occasions, he decided – like many of us – he did not like to clean windows.

Jess never missed a day of work, was very punctual, and his Goodwill Job Developer, John Garnes, indicated he found a big improvement in Jess’s development level over last year. The biggest step was in his retention skills which gave him the ability to work on his own after being shown how to perform a task … including mixing mop water to a specific formula necessary for the food service environment in which he worked.

Living in Cardington with his adopted parents, Jess’s ultimate goal is to find full-time employment … although he emphasizes “no windows!” A very big NASCAR fan, Jess also loves the Buckeyes. His favorite player of all time is A. J. Hawk, now with Green Bay. Jess has an A. J. Hawk OSU jersey and is looking for a Packers jersey bearing Hawk’s name and number.
