President’s Message

Dear Friends,

Eager to provide for their families, local community members come to Goodwill with all kinds of employment barriers.  Whether it’s a physical barrier such as MS, a mental barrier such as depression, or a criminal background that is hindering their job search, these individuals are actively seeking employment and have not always been given an opportunity to rise above these obstacles and showcase their abilities.

At Goodwill, we strive to provide a path toward employment success…a bit of direction to help individuals who are eager to earn a steady paycheck.  Focusing on a “hand up, not a hand out,” as detailed by Goodwill creator, Rev. Edgar Helms, Marion Goodwill provides the training and tools necessary for individuals to find independence through hard work.  Our eight retail stores and online shopping site, Shopgoodwill.com, fund our many programs and services.  Through these initiatives, we helped 1,433 community members in a variety of ways, including obtaining an affordable car to get to work, a low-income housing unit to achieve stability, clothing for need and interview purposes, a job through the Summer Youth Program, and a variety of job training and on-site work experience through our Workforce Development Department.

With your help, we look forward to providing even more assistance in years to come.  With each donation made to Goodwill, you help build a path toward success for someone in need.
